Covid-19 Response:

Appointments:

Wenger Orthodontics has followed all the recommendations by Governor DeWine and the Ohio State Dental Board for March and April to preserve PPE and to limit the spread of the Coronavirus by only seeing emergency and virtual patients.  We are happy to resume patient care in the office on May 1st. Please know that the number of patients who could not be seen over the past 7 weeks is staggering, but in order to follow the governor’s protocol, we must see fewer patients at a time.   We will be working longer hours and more days to compensate.   At this point, the administrative team is triaging the missed visits, and we will call or text you to schedule an appointment.

Health and Safety:

During shelter-in-place, we prepared the team and the office to safely resume patient care. The health of our patients, parents and team continues to be our primary concern.  Below are a few of the changes that will allow maximum safety as patient care in the office resumes May 1st:

  1. Fewer chairs in use in the waiting room
  2. Hands free paper towels, soap dispenser and hand sanitizer
  3. No water, coffee or video games
  4. Temperature check for all those entering the office, including the doctors and team
  5. We have converted our exam room into a clinical treatment area.
  6. We will be using fewer treatment chairs in our “circle” so that all patients can maintain proper social distance from each other.
  7. Parents will be asked to stay in the car, except for the parents of our Phase I patients.
  8. Please do not bring siblings unless they have an appointment as well.
  9. Patients and parents are asked to wear a mask or face covering while in the office.
  10. Please brush thoroughly before coming to the office.
  11. Along with the universal precautions that we have always used, all Wenger team members will have additional PPE as required by the Ohio State Dental Board.

Covid-19 Screening

The following questions will be asked of all patients and parents in writing and then again by the assistant who is working with the patient:

  1. Have you or anyone in your household tested positive for the Coronavirus in the past two weeks?
  2. Have you or anyone in your household had cough, fever, sore throat, diarrhea, chills, repeated shaking, muscle pain, headache, body aches or any other symptoms associated with COVID-19 in the past two weeks?
  3. Have you or anyone in your household traveled outside of the country or to any Covid-19 hotspots such as Washington state, California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan or Louisiana in the past two weeks?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, or if you have a fever the day of your appointment, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment.

Smilesnap Photos and Zoom Consultations

The recent addition of Smilesnap was a huge success.  Many patients used this feature in combination with a Zoom exam to obtain feedback on their treatment progress.  Drs. Wenger and Orabi were able to evaluate elastics, retainers, aligners and oral hygiene.  Wenger Orthodontics wants to thank all the patients that took advantage of this opportunity, and we plan to provide virtual visits when possible in the future.

We look forward to seeing all of you soon!

Dr. Ryan Wenger, Dr. Noha Orabi and team
